Press Manager Foundation

Version Overview

Press Manager Foundation (PMF) version numbers consist of a major and a minor version number. So version 2.6 means - major version 2, minor version 6.

Each major version requires a different licence. So upgrading 2.1 to 2.6 will just get you an improved program, but upgrading from 2.6 to 3.0 will require a new licence.

ICCS For PMF

ICCS for PMF is licensed separately from PMF. It is intended to provide the functionality of ICCS (further described here) but uses the PMF database and so is seamlessly integrated with it.

DO NOT upgrade major version numbers unless you intend to purchase the upgrade licence.

Version 4

WARNING: Version 3 users are NOT licensed to use Version 4 and should not install it.

The main added features added by 4 are:

  • Added Illuminant and Observer types. Now  D50 and 2º to be used in the colour equations as well as D65 and 10º.
  • 'Reel' based variants of Colour Wizard and Print Manager are available for industries where the substrate is a reel rather than individual boards.

Version 3

WARNING: Version 2 users are NOT licensed to use Version 3 and should not install it.

The main improvements in version 3.0 from version 2 are:-

It is now possible to Import/Export entire Articles as well as just Colours. This helps with moving production between sites.

Multiple ink companies in one database. This is a very powerful feature that makes switching between ink suppliers very easy.

In Print Manager, it is possible to search for similar colours in the database based on a measurement (with the spectro.), a manually entered LAB value, or a colour that already exists in the database.

Colour wizard (optionally) shows a graph of DeltaE over time at bottom of screen.

There is a new Colour Wizard Configuration tool for administrators to use to set up Colour Wizard.

Colour Wizard indicates whether the colour being checked should be Matt or Gloss.

The QA report for an article shows tabular summary with statistics as well as graphs.

DE, CMC(1:1), CMC(2:1) DE94 and DE00 are all supported.
